FAQ
I’d like to audition. How do I find out more information?
Auditions take place every other year, usually in the fall. Watch this website and the Choral Canada Facebook page for announcements, or sign up for the Choral Canada E-Bytes newsletter to be sure to see the call for auditions.
What benefits are there to participating in the NYCC as a chorister?
The NYCC is Canada’s premier choral training program for singers, and Choral Canada aims to provide a professional experience that will expand the singer’s understanding of themselves within the choir environment and the choral arts sector as a whole. Choral Canada is developing a mentorship pilot project for the singers and other professional and personal development opportunities in addition to the professional musical training the NYCC is renowned for. See more details on our AUDITIONS page.
I’d like to donate. How can I support the NYCC?
Thank you for your interest! More details can be found on our DONATE page.
What does the NYCC sound like?
We are currently digitizing recordings of past NYCC choirs to share on this website. Stay tuned for an announcement as we start to add those tracks in 2021.
How has Covid-19 affected the NYCC?
Unfortunately, the 2020 iteration of NYCC was cancelled due to the pandemic. While this was very disappointing, our NYCC 2020 choristers and our NYCC Alumni worked together to present 2 virtual choir pieces that can be viewed here and here.
The 2020 choristers will have the opportunity to participate in the 2022 choir.
Where will the NYCC 2022 rehearsal session and tour take place?
As of Dec 2020, Choral Canada is still in development for 2022 as we navigate the realities brought by Covid-19, however rehearsals will likely take place in Montreal with a tour through southern Ontario. NYCC 2024 is scheduled for Montreal with a tour in Quebec, while we expect that NYCC 2026 will visit the west coast in British Columbia.
