A message from Thomas Burton, NYCC Apprentice Conductor (2020, 2022)
" I am so grateful for the time I spent working with the singers and artistic team of the NYCC. The outstanding music-making throughout the program was something I will cherish for the rest of my career, and having the opportunity to conduct such a fine choir challenged and pushed my own musicianship in a supportive and welcoming setting. I deeply value the mentorship offered by NYCC conductor Jean-Sébastien Vallée as well as the many other connections with choral colleagues that were made possible through the Podium conference. Beyond the career opportunities that stemmed from the Apprentice Conductor program, I deeply enjoyed connecting with the passionate singers of the choir and now enjoy many new friendships with choristers across the country. I would strongly encourage any young conductor to apply for this opportunity and guarantee a satisfying and memorable learning experience. "
